The course of the procedure
The procedure consists in correction, i.e. adjustment of the size or shape, resp. removal of the asymmetry of the labia minora, or labia.

The doctor carefully assesses the degree of the defect and the patient’s wishes, indicating the expected benefits of the operation. He will carry out photo documentation.
What is the preparation before the procedure
No specific preparation is needed before surgery, only careful hygiene is required.
Performance of the procedure
The surgery can be performed under local anaesthesia for small or unilateral adjustments, but is more often performed under general anaesthesia. The procedure takes between half and one and a half hours. During the operation, the procedure is carried out as gently as possible so that sensitive areas are not disturbed and scars remain hidden. These are usually located in the skin folds. We sew with absorbable stitches that do not need to be removed.
Just after the operation
Careful intimate hygiene is important after the surgery. Initially, it is recommended to keep the operated area as loose and uncovered as possible and to cool it slightly. It is necessary to avoid sitting for long periods of time and maintain a resting regime.
What is the postoperative care
Pain after the surgery is not great, patients usually report only unpleasant burning for about two days after the procedure. We recommend about a week of home treatment. It is advisable to limit sporting activities for about 3 weeks and to start sexual life only 4-6 weeks after surgery, with caution. Postoperative follow-up is recommended after one week.

What technique do you use for liposuction?
There are several techniques of liposuction. At the aestea clinic we use the so-called super-wet technique. In this technique, the affected area is first infiltrated with fluid and then the fluid is suctioned out together with the fat. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Is there a weight limit for surgery?
We often operate on patients who weigh over 100 kg, the maximum possible weight for surgery is 120 kg.
Does surgery guarantee complete elimination of the disease?
Removal of unwanted adipose tissue leads in most cases to pain reduction, improved mobility and overall life satisfaction. However, the removal of all fat, whether lipedema or otherwise, cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, liposuction can by no means be said to be the absolute and exclusive cure for lipedema.
Is it possible to operate on the upper and lower limbs at the same time?
For a number of reasons, we do not recommend liposuction of the upper and lower limbs in one operation.
When can I go back to work after surgery?
It depends on the extent of the operation, how many litres are suctioned, but also on the individual sensitivity and resistance of the patient. We recommend taking a leave of 1-2 weeks. After 2-3 weeks it is usually possible to return to normal life.
