The course of the procedure
Via insertion of a silicone implant, it is possible to achieve breast augmentation and, in case of a small decrease, an improvement in breast shape.
How the examination is carried out
During the pre-operative consultation, the most important thing is to assess the client’s wishes regarding the shape and size of the future breasts and to choose the appropriate implant and decide on the surgical technique according to these wishes. Before any breast surgery, we recommend at least a sonographic breast examination well in advance.
What is the preparation before the procedure
In preparation for surgery, it is necessary to:
- discontinue all medication causing increased bleeding
- consider, in order to reduce the risk of embolism, discontinuing contraception three weeks before the procedure
- maintain a 2-3 week interval since the last infectious disease
- not smoke – in order to improve healing before and after the procedure
- not drink or eat anything 6 hours before the procedure
- not underestimate cleansing and hygiene on the day of surgery, and not wear make-up
The day before the surgery, we mark the operation plan on the patient’s skin. We will try on the bra, and make photo documentation.
Performance of the procedure
The operation takes about 2 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. The chosen implant is inserted between the breast gland and the pectoral muscle, under the superficial muscle fascia or deeper between the pectoral muscle and the ribs. The scar may be in the submental crease or around the areola.
The aestea clinic uses only the highest quality implants manufactured in Germany, namely implants with a micropolyurethane surface, where the manufacturer gives a lifetime guarantee against implant rupture, as well as capsular contracture or dislocation – for 10 years in this case. These implants, which currently represent the safest possible breast augmentation procedure, are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes. Lightweight implants are also available and offer a number of advantages. We consider these implants with a micropolyurethane surface to be the absolute world leader in breast augmentation.
Just after the operation
We don’t usually put a drain, just a firm chest bandage. You will be given antibiotics as a precautionary measure, we have developed a pain medication regimen to relieve the pain, and we will also equip you to take it home. Discharge is almost always possible on the first post-operative day.
What is the postoperative care
From the fifth day onwards, the wounds are covered with Steristrip patches, and we recommend wearing a firm “sports” bra. The next follow-up is one week after the operation. Resting mode is necessary for office work for a week, longer for more demanding work. Avoid physical exertion and sports for 3 weeks. Showering is possible from day 7, with the patches left on – these remain on the wound with several changes for 4-6 weeks.
The final result – the shape, natural feel and mobility of the breasts – can only be judged 6 months later.

What technique do you use for liposuction?
There are several techniques of liposuction. At the aestea clinic we use the so-called super-wet technique. In this technique, the affected area is first infiltrated with fluid and then the fluid is suctioned out together with the fat. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Is there a weight limit for surgery?
We often operate on patients who weigh over 100 kg, the maximum possible weight for surgery is 120 kg.
Does surgery guarantee complete elimination of the disease?
Removal of unwanted adipose tissue leads in most cases to pain reduction, improved mobility and overall life satisfaction. However, the removal of all fat, whether lipedema or otherwise, cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, liposuction can by no means be said to be the absolute and exclusive cure for lipedema.
Is it possible to operate on the upper and lower limbs at the same time?
For a number of reasons, we do not recommend liposuction of the upper and lower limbs in one operation.
When can I go back to work after surgery?
It depends on the extent of the operation, how many litres are suctioned, but also on the individual sensitivity and resistance of the patient. We recommend taking a leave of 1-2 weeks. After 2-3 weeks it is usually possible to return to normal life.
