Lower eyelids
The course of the procedure
The procedure consists of removing loose and excess skin, if necessary, adjusting the bags under the eyes and tightening the loose muscle of the lower eyelid. It is often advisable to slightly elevate the outer corner of the eye.
How the examination is carried out
The doctor will carefully examine the eyelid area and the adjacent area. He looks for the droop of the eyelid, assesses the contribution of the droop of the eyebrows to the loosening of the skin of the upper eyelid, evaluates the amount of fat in the eyelids, the line of the axis of the corners of the eyes, the tension in the lower eyelid, the rate of return after its delay. Based on the examination, we will very often recommend correction of both the upper and lower eyelid in one surgery. We perform photo documentation.
What is the preparation before the procedure
Just before surgery, we mark the extent of the excision, protect the eyes with ointment and disinfect them.
Performance of the procedure
This intervention is usually performed under local anesthesia, but increasingly, especially by larger interventions or greater concerns of the client, it is also performed under general anesthesia. Excess skin is removed, fat pouches are reduced or expanded, and muscles are stretched and suspended. Sometimes elevation in the cheek area or suspension in the corner of the eye is necessary. The wounds are sutured with the finest suture materials.
Just after the operation
After the surgery, we put a special gel on the eyelids and immediately apply an ice pack. Of course, you must have an escort who will take you home as quickly as possible and help you in the first hours. In most cases, it is also possible to stay in the clinic bed and receive care from experienced nurses.
What is the postoperative care
We recommend cooling with squares soaked in ice water.
Usually, a check-up the day after surgery is appropriate. It is recommended to continue icing in the following days.
The stitches are removed on the 6th day after surgery. If bruising and swelling occur, they will disappear within 2-3 weeks. Avoid physical exertion and sports during the first two weeks.

Results
Before and after the procedure
Photographs of the operated areas taken before and after the procedure perfectly illustrate its optical effect. However, for many procedures, we should not forget about their health effects, such as increased mobility, pain reduction, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
You ask, we answer
What technique do you use for liposuction?
There are several techniques of liposuction. At the aestea clinic we use the so-called super-wet technique. In this technique, the affected area is first infiltrated with fluid and then the fluid is suctioned out together with the fat. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Is there a weight limit for surgery?
We often operate on patients who weigh over 100 kg, the maximum possible weight for surgery is 120 kg.
Does surgery guarantee complete elimination of the disease?
Removal of unwanted adipose tissue leads in most cases to pain reduction, improved mobility and overall life satisfaction. However, the removal of all fat, whether lipedema or otherwise, cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, liposuction can by no means be said to be the absolute and exclusive cure for lipedema.
Is it possible to operate on the upper and lower limbs at the same time?
For a number of reasons, we do not recommend liposuction of the upper and lower limbs in one operation.
When can I go back to work after surgery?
It depends on the extent of the operation, how many litres are suctioned, but also on the individual sensitivity and resistance of the patient. We recommend taking a leave of 1-2 weeks. After 2-3 weeks it is usually possible to return to normal life.
