AESTEA
Large volume liposuction
In lipedema liposuction, the goal is to remove via suction lipedema fat from those areas of the body where its accumulation is undesirable, primarily for health reasons. It resides in removal of fatty tissue causing pain and reduced mobility, among other things, while modifying the contours and shape of the body, being not solely a weight loss tool. Liposuction allows for fat reduction in areas where exercise or dieting cannot. When the extent of the fat extracted exceeds 8 liters, we speak of so-called maxi liposuction. The procedure is always performed under general anesthesia.
In addition to the initial extent of the lipedema tissue, the final effect is also influenced by the individual characteristics of the skin (its elasticity and firmness).

Large volume liposuction
The course of the procedure
Liposuction, especially large-volume liposuction, is not an easy operation and its preparation, performance and follow-up care must be approached with the utmost responsibility and professionalism.
How the examination is carried out
In the case of lipedema, we cooperate with specialists from other disciplines to establish the diagnosis. We can usually recommend surgery on the basis of clear photographs sent to us, together with other information, especially height and weight data, but also information about your health. The final decision on the extent and location will of course only be made in a personal consultation with your surgeon prior to surgery.
What is the preparation before the procedure
In preparation for surgery, it is necessary to:
- discontinue all medications causing increased bleeding
- to reduce the risk of embolism, consider discontinuing contraception three weeks before the procedure
- maintain a 2-3 week interval since the last infectious disease
- in order to improve healing, do not smoke for some time before and after the procedure
- 6 hours before the procedure, do not drink or eat anything
- not to underestimate cleansing and hygiene on the day of surgery, not to wear make-up
Performance of the procedure
The basic condition is a sufficiently large and highly trained, experienced operational team. Two to three surgeons operate simultaneously. General anaesthesia is administered by an experienced anaesthesiologist, who carefully monitors the patient’s condition and his reaction to the procedure, pays for fluid losses and ensures that the patient does not catch a cold.
aestea uses the so-called super-wet-technique, in which the same fluid is used for infiltration as in the tumescent technique, only in smaller quantities. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Small incisions of about 4 – 5 mm in length are made in suitable and later difficult to recognise places to allow the cannulas to enter. The cannula is first used to inject fluid into the tissue and then, with regular movements, the released fat is suctioned under vacuum into special containers. The operated areas are compressed with compression linen at the end of the procedure.
Just after the operation
Anti-nausea drugs are administered as a precaution during the operation, pain killers are started immediately after the operation, unpleasant cold sensation is overcome by intensive warming with special hot air heating and warm pillows.
What is the postoperative care
Large volume liposuction is a sensitive and extensive procedure and the post-operative follow-up and care corresponds to this. We strive for maximum comfort of our clients. Experienced nurses monitor the overall condition and are supportive in managing the discomfort of the post-operative period.
The operation is usually followed by a one-day stay in the clinic.
Pain, which is relieved by analgesics, and nausea should be expected.
In the first two weeks after the procedure, it is necessary to limit physical exertion.
Each client leaves our clinic fully informed and familiar with all possible and expected symptoms of the postoperative condition. If in doubt, the client is free to contact the surgeon at any time.
We recommend taking a 1-2 week holiday. You can return to work after 7-14 days and to more or less normal life after 2-3 weeks.

Price of the procedure
The price of liposuction is determined individually according to the volume and location.
Results
Before and after the procedure
Photographs of the operated areas taken before and after the procedure perfectly illustrate its optical effect. However, for many procedures, we should not forget about their health effects, such as increased mobility, pain reduction, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
You ask, we answer
What technique do you use for liposuction?
There are several techniques of liposuction. At the aestea clinic we use the so-called super-wet technique. In this technique, the affected area is first infiltrated with fluid and then the fluid is suctioned out together with the fat. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Is there a weight limit for surgery?
We often operate on patients who weigh over 100 kg, the maximum possible weight for surgery is 120 kg.
Does surgery guarantee complete elimination of the disease?
Removal of unwanted adipose tissue leads in most cases to pain reduction, improved mobility and overall life satisfaction. However, the removal of all fat, whether lipedema or otherwise, cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, liposuction can by no means be said to be the absolute and exclusive cure for lipedema.
Is it possible to operate on the upper and lower limbs at the same time?
For a number of reasons, we do not recommend liposuction of the upper and lower limbs in one operation.
When can I go back to work after surgery?
It depends on the extent of the operation, how many litres are suctioned, but also on the individual sensitivity and resistance of the patient. We recommend taking a leave of 1-2 weeks. After 2-3 weeks it is usually possible to return to normal life.
