Neck correction
Usually, the sagging of the cheeks is addressed at the same time as the correction of the loose skin on the neck, as part of a procedure in the lower half of the face (facelift).
Less frequently, a correction is performed in the area between the chin and neck.
Short waiting time
Most procedures are within one month.

Neck correction
The course of the procedure
Smoothing of the neck is achieved by tightening the deep layers (SMAS) and removing excess skin. The procedure is usually combined with a facelift. The extent of the procedure is highly individual. The modern approach tends towards smaller and less demanding modifications, where a more natural look is achieved by means of vertical lifting (MACS-lift). Here, scars are shorter and healing is usually uneventful.
How the examination is carried out
The doctor carefully assesses the extent of loosening and sagging in the neck, cheeks, outer eyebrows, assesses the quality of the skin, facial symmetry. In front of the mirror, he will indicate the expected benefit of the operation. He/she will assess the general health of the client, the medications he/she is taking and may recommend a specialist examination. He/she will carry out photodocumentation.
What is the preparation before the procedure
In preparation for surgery, it is necessary to:
- discontinue all medication causing increased bleeding
- consider, in order to reduce the risk of embolism, discontinuing contraception three weeks before the procedure
- maintain a 2-3 week interval since the last infectious disease
- not smoke – in order to improve healing before and after the procedure
- not drink or eat anything 6 hours before the procedure
- not underestimate cleansing and hygiene on the day of surgery, and not wear make-up
Please wash your head and hair thoroughly before surgery. We will brush the hair out of your face.
Performance of the procedure
The operation is usually performed in light painless sleep. Modern surgery leaves a scar in the hairline border at the temple and in front of the pinna. Here the recovery time is significantly shorter, the risk is lower, and yet very good and stable results are achieved. Very important is the adjustment in the area of the deep layers – the so-called musculoaponeurotic system of the face (SMAS), which is either incised with a special suture technique or prepared, stretched and fixed in a new position. Excess skin is removed, and we sew mostly with absorbable sutures inside the skin.
Just after the operation
After surgery, we apply a padded head bandage. The next day we remove the drains (tiny silicone strips, you won’t even feel them) and apply a much lighter bandage for the next 2 days. The pain is not significant. After another two days, it is possible to wash your head.
What is the postoperative care
A check-up usually follows a week after surgery, when several stitches are removed. Avoid physical exertion, alcohol, hot baths and sun exposure. It is usually possible to return to work in about 14 days after surgery.

Results
Before and after the procedure
Photographs of the operated areas taken before and after the procedure perfectly illustrate its optical effect. However, for many procedures, we should not forget about their health effects, such as increased mobility, pain reduction, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
You ask, we answer
What technique do you use for liposuction?
There are several techniques of liposuction. At the aestea clinic we use the so-called super-wet technique. In this technique, the affected area is first infiltrated with fluid and then the fluid is suctioned out together with the fat. The amount of fluid infiltrated is approximately the same as the amount of fat suctioned during the operation.
Is there a weight limit for surgery?
We often operate on patients who weigh over 100 kg, the maximum possible weight for surgery is 120 kg.
Does surgery guarantee complete elimination of the disease?
Removal of unwanted adipose tissue leads in most cases to pain reduction, improved mobility and overall life satisfaction. However, the removal of all fat, whether lipedema or otherwise, cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, liposuction can by no means be said to be the absolute and exclusive cure for lipedema.
Is it possible to operate on the upper and lower limbs at the same time?
For a number of reasons, we do not recommend liposuction of the upper and lower limbs in one operation.
When can I go back to work after surgery?
It depends on the extent of the operation, how many litres are suctioned, but also on the individual sensitivity and resistance of the patient. We recommend taking a leave of 1-2 weeks. After 2-3 weeks it is usually possible to return to normal life.
